I’m Janne, born in the cold winter of 1991 and that’s approximately the year my eager to explore was born as well. My parents have infected me with the travel virus and as you know there is no cure for that (why would we need one anyway?). So I decided to just go with it and see where life will bring me.
I started this travel blog because… A) I started to forget all the wonderful details of my travels B) I want to inspire people to travel, whether it’s close to home or far away. C) Travel pictures are just fun to look at. D) All of the above
From the moment I get home and people ask me “How was your trip?” the best thing I tend to get up with is “Good! It was really amazing.” And al though this is a really good answer when you’re a 10-year old coming back from camp it doesn’t do justice to the incredible moments I already have experienced while traveling. To counteract this, Darlings Abroad will be the place where I write down all the places, hostels and restaurants I have been to before they fade from my memory (Yes, the first granny symptoms are already popping-up!).
Over the years, my urge for wanderlusting has only increased. On the way, I learned that I don’t always have to go to the end of the world to find beauty. Sometimes, it’s just waiting for you right at your doorstep. That’s why you will find a little bit of everything on Darlings Abroad.
The site name “Darlings Abroad” was born when me and my darling just went on a trip to Cabo Verde. It’s a reference to the #hashtag we had at the business school we both attended. A hashtag let to an idea and an idea let to this blog. That’s how it goes apparently in this era of technology and social media 😉
